“You broke a promise there, you know.”

“How so?

“That was two conversations (or one conversation in two parts) in the conversation room.  You said conversations there would have an ‘I,’ a sort of “host” like the one played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the earlier conversations.  There wasn’t an ‘I’ in these latest ones.”

“There wasn’t someone who identified him or herself as an ‘I.’  Neither one of them was the narrator is what you mean, right?”

“Right.  There was no ‘I’, as you promised there would be.”

“There was no narrator.  I’ll grant you that this is probably breaking the spirit of the promise.  But notice that this does not entail the absence of an ‘I’.”

“I wish all three of you would shut up.  I’m trying to read.”
